Berlitz Language Learning Centre

Berlitz has stood at the forefront of language education for over 142 years.  Berlitz Canada offers specialized programs geared towards corporate needs, whether it be preparing staff for work overseas or training foreign professionals for operation within the Canadian workforce.  As well, Berlitz has worked with several government agencies to ensure their employees meet language requirements put forth by the Public Service Commission.  With centres serving Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, Vancouver, and Calgary, Berlitz remains the preferred name among language learners and businesses alike.

Programs: Corporate Language Training

Employers may choose from three programs of instruction:

The Private Corporate Program has lessons which offer a one-on-one training experience between the student and a Berlitz instructor. This option provides maximum focus on the student’s progress coupled with a high degree of flexibility in scheduling.

The Charter or Group Program has lessons which provide students the prospect of learning the language in a more social environment. With this option, classes are conducted between a Berlitz instructor and a small group of students, giving students a premium opportunity to cooperate and communicate in the target language.

These lessons may be delivered in centre or on site.

The Self-Study Virtual Program has lessons that are conducted through an online interface affording a flexible, personalized experience catering to the student’s needs as well as their schedule.

LANGUAGE COURSE FRAMEWORK:

All the language courses with Berlitz are developed utilizing The Berlitz Method® where a faster pace of learning is applied through constant speaking and listening practices in between the instructor and students as well as using repetition. The ratio of speaking between students and instructor starts from 50%-50% and gradually improves to 70%-30%. Grammar and vocabulary are also taught within context of each lesson. Students are also given extra online practices, homework and sometimes fieldtrip language exposure (if schedule permits) with the instructor. The main goal for our language courses is to improve the student/s fluency and retention.

The Berlitz Calgary will monitor the student/s’ progress through some lesson observations and counselling by the Language Instructional Supervisor.

Berlitz uses its own well-researched and well-developed published materials for most of the languages training we have. We also customize some programs that maybe required by corporate clients.

Corporate students benefit from the specialized programs that Berlitz offers because they learn terms/vocabularies/expressions that are related or necessary for their professions or industries. They will have the chance to improve their language skills required by their job titles and/or duties (i.e. being sent abroad to negotiate a contract).

PROGRAM DETAILS:

Apart from the Virtual Program, Berlitz follows a 10 proficiency level approach that tailors programs to fit students’ objectives. Student/s may be enrolled for a one-level program or multiple-level programs based on the level they will start from and their goal level/s. Berlitz conducts an initial assessment for all students to determine their current level or the level they have to start from.
